Metz Mesa Mission 2004
Grand Canyon National Park

Our first major park of the trip was a biggie - the Grand Canyon. Eight thousand miles long, two hundred miles across and, amazingly, only twenty two feet deep (the hot desert air plays tricks on your eyes and makes it look deeper.) We stayed at the Kachina Lodge on the south rim of the canyon and got up at oh-dark-thirty to watch the sun come up. It seemed like a good idea at the time.

 It was an early morning.
